Change Manager, Certified Yoga Teacher, Tai Chi student, bellydancer, wine lover, consignment shopping aficionado and absolute foodie, as long as it’s not spicy!
I want to inspire people from all walks of life and backgrounds to come together, to learn about and support each other, to embrace our common humanity by supporting causes they believe in. We can acknowledge, accept and appreciate what makes us different. I want us to send a loud, collective message that despite the prevailing narrative of hate and intolerance, we will NOT be divided!

Annette has been with WSU from the very beginning! Annette and her husband, Malik, are members of the Interfaith Community of Greater Richmond, and have been invited to give presentations to many churches and schools about Islam. The purpose of the Interfaith Community of Greater Richmond is to develop understanding, respect and cooperation among the various religious faiths.
My main hobby is “interfaithing” and I’d like to participate in another “FaithClub” where topics related to various faiths are discussed. I am part of We Stand Undivided to support and promote the benefits of diversity in our community; and by so doing, I hope to decrease the danger of hate towards any minority population.

Mechanical Engineer, and real estate investor, enjoys hiking, walking, biking, working out, flying small aircraft, organic farming and raising livestock. Enjoys cooking — as an art. A regular meditator and a yogi!
With all that is going on around us in our society, We Stand Undivided is a good platform to bring people together. I believe that we are all one spirit of the One Supreme, no matter our different skin colors or personal choices in life. In the Sikh faith there is a saying “Maanas Kee Jaat Sabai Aykai paichaanbo,” which means all the human beings, as a species, are recognized as one and the same.

Jabriel Hasan has been working across differences since birth. He was born in Richmond to an Episcopalian mother and a Muslim father. He has served in the Peace Corps, bridging cultural divides as an English teacher in Ethiopia. As a way to engage social transformation, he is now pursuing his M.Div. at Union Presbyterian Seminary. Jabriel enjoys mountains, clear waters, roses, babies (when they’re not crying), and nice dogs!
I feel called to be a part of We Stand Undivided to continue the work of healing Metro Richmond and repairing the breach by fostering relationships with people across differences.

Jessica is the owner of Natural Awakenings of Richmond, a local magazine dedicated to sharing information, resources, news, and events about natural health, wellness, and sustainable living and she serves on the board of The Innerwork Center. A lover of meditation, yoga, and searching for four-leaf clovers, Jessica enjoys good books, meaningful conversation, and time in nature (especially in the woods or by the water).
I’m so inspired by Valerie and the mission of We Stand Undivided — I feel strongly that everyone deserves “to be treated with human dignity and equity in all aspects of their lives.” I want to learn and grow in the company of people who have walked different paths and have had different life experiences. I think it’s incredibly important for us to work together, and intentionally, to build trust, gain understanding, create community, and promote peace; and I want to take an active role in doing that.

As a little girl, I had curtains which featured children from all over the world holding hands. Children love each other naturally. I am part of We Stand Undivided because I believe the love that connects us as children is still there. We are all family, members of the human race. I am here to represent that love and connect through that bond.
